Dream Log: Mystery cab ride

I had a big, weird, discombobulated dream last night. I remember one clearly part though.

Dreamlog: 2023-09-19

The first part of the dream is vague, if I remember more of it I’ll come back and update. Part of it was that I was trying to help my friend Chris, but I was stuck on a door (??) and then my friend Jessica came up with a clever fix for the situation. Then it was time for me to leave, this is the part I remember clearly.

I had to get to the airport. I was getting in a cab and the driver asked if it was OK if we had another passenger. Then he mumbled something about them being famous and said their name, but I couldn’t make out what he was saying. I answered “sure” because I didn’t care one way or the other.

The passenger arrives. It’s the amazing and prolific French actor Isabelle Huppert. She gets in and nods at me. I nod at her and we proceed with our ride.

At some point we got stuck in traffic, there was a long line for something. Gas? To get into the airport? I decided I needed to put a plate of food in the trunk (??). After putting the food in the trunk I told the driver I’d walk ahead to see what’s going on, and that I’d meet up with the car closer to the airport.

There were a lot of other people walking too. It felt more like parking for a festival than a traffic jam. After walking for awhile I realized I had no idea what the car looked like or the license plate number, so I probably wouldn’t find it. Then I woke up.

Yeah. No idea. I haven’t even seen Isabelle Huppert in many things, but La Cérémonie is on my watch list! “The Meryl Streep of France, but better”, The Lady noted when I recounted the patchy dream.

The Lady had gone on a jag of watching her films on Criterion a few months ago. And apparently she was also in I Heart Huckabees, which I didn’t remember. That’s definitely worth watching again. Is this the message from my unconscious?

As for the rest of it? Who knows. It’s jumbled and all over the place, like my head these days.
